This Malaysian-born executive knows what he’s good at and he makes the most of it.

Mr Ng Kweng Chong, also known as Michael Ng Kweng Chong, is a University of London alum. He graduated with Honours and earned a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr Ng is not your typical engineer, as he gained certifications and recognition in the areas of technical, management, and business developments & expertise in the high-tech semiconductor manufacturing arena.

For 18 progressive years, Mr Ng was employed by Intel Technology Sdn Bhd. He started as an engineer and later on, he glided on to various senior management positions wherein his leadership was well-engaged. For a year, he managed Intel US, and then was re-assigned to the Far East Automotives’ Business Group, where he stayed for two years.

After Far East, Mr Ng took over the senior management of Asia Pacific Quality Support Group whose operations expanded through South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia.

In 1991, Mr Ng left Intel in order to establish Globetronics Sdn Bhd (GSB). As Founder and Executive Chairman, he developed Globetronics for 26 years from a company with an initial paid-up capital of RM3 million to one which made a successful initial public offering (IPO) in 1997. Since then, GSB became Globetronics Technology Bhd.

A clan’s pride and the Bursa Malaysia market
At Globetronics Technology Bhd (GTB), Mr. Ng acts as Non-Independent Executive Director. His brother, Dato’ Ng Kweng Moh and nephews — Mr. Ng Kok Khuan and Mr. Ng Kok Chin — are members of the Board Of Directors.

GTB is an investment holding company which is engaged in the manufacture, assembly, testing and sale of integrated circuits, chip carrier quartz crystal products, optoelectronic products, and small outline components.

Other GTB products include light emitting diode (LED) components and modules, sensors and optical products, and components for electronics and semiconductors. The Company also offers technical plating services.

Headquartered in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia, GTB serves foreign semiconductor and electronics industries, particularly from Singapore, USA, and China.

The Company’s subsidiaries include Globetronics Sdn. Bhd., ISO Technology Sdn. Bhd., Globetronics (KL) Sdn. Bhd., Globetronics Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., Globetronics Multimedia Technology Sdn. Bhd. and Globetronics (HK) Limited.

On 3 November 1997, GTB registered its shares on the Bursa Malaysia market, formerly the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
